My first trip outside the US was to Scandanvia and the Soviet Union back in 1986, mere months after Chernobyl (and the assassination of Olof Palme). That summer Top Gun was playing in Goteborg, which I went to see with my Swedish host, Vendel, and some of his friends. I noted in my journal how weird it was to hear cheers from a foreign audience every time Tom Cruise blew up the bad guys.
It's now just as weird to see French fighters patrolling Libyan skies today, and to hear proud liberals ask "pacifists" to justify not intervening. Not entirely unexpected, but it doesn't change this down-the-rabbit-hole feeling I have.
On the 8th anniversary of beginning our illegal preventive war on Iraq, it's sad to see violent history rhyming once again. This in the same year where we saw a peaceful revolution in Tunisia (25 years after one in the Philippines), and on the same day Egyptians are voting in a referendum after their nonviolent success.
I guess war is just too damned easy...

good thank like your "explosive" analogy, I use it in my business as well. Thanks for the great content.
